I am a nurse by training and hold a Master's degree in Economics and have worked in a wide range of business and political roles throughout my career. I have worked as a nurse at Teksi, as a marketing manager at HyTest, as CEO of the Turku Chamber of Commerce, as party secretary of the Coalition Party and as Mayor of Turku. As Mayor, my role is to bring together different perspectives, seek solutions and ensure that Turku develops in a determined and sustainable way.

 

I am forward-looking, ambitious and enthusiastic - but at the same time practical and cooperative. I am motivated by the opportunity to make a difference and build a better environment for people. I like it when I can combine big visions with concrete actions.

 

I love urban culture, history and new ideas. I get excited when different people and perspectives come together and something new is born. I'm also a big advocate of sustainable urban development and culture - I believe that a strong cultural identity makes a city vibrant and attractive - and brings more fun to the city! 

 

I value responsibility, community and courage. In urban development, I believe in the long term and in making decisions that benefit both current and future generations. Sustainable growth, climate responsibility and inclusion are important principles for me.

 

In my free time, I enjoy sports, nature and the marine environment - the Turku archipelago is particularly dear to me. I also love reading and culture in all its forms, especially art and music. Family and close people are an important counterbalance to my work and I enjoy spending time with them.
